Busybees @ Sunflower Recycling
About Us
Busybees collects, recycles, prepares and resells pre-loved furniture, while providing training and employment opportunities for the communities of Dublin's inner city. A FAS funded project with a community development ethos - Busybees take placements from various organisations, such as Business in the Community.People seem to want furniture that is durable, with character and personality, and at affordable prices - something different from the norm, which often reflects the individuality of the customer. We keep a customer wish list at the store, so if there is a certain item that someone is on the lookout for, we do our best to find it for them.
Busybees is a continuation of Sunflower Recycling. Busybees collects, upcycle, and resell pre loved furniture, while providing training and employment opportunities for local communities in Dublin.
We provide quality furniture at affordable prices while saving on landfill and waste which benefits the individual, the community and the environment.

Sunflower Recycling has been in existence for the
past 15 years and has built up a reputation as one of the foremost
environmental projects in the country and, indeed, in Europe. The
project has won several awards in Ireland including the Environmental
Awareness Award from the Dept of Environment and the Guinness Living
Dublin Awards. Sunflower was also chosen as the Irish representative
project for the EU Integra Programme in 1999. The project has operated
two separate EU programmes INTEGRA for working with long-term unemployed
adults and YOUTHSTART for working with disadvantaged youth.
The
ethos of Sunflower is to work within the local community to foster
active citizenship and personal development within the ranks of the
unemployed in a disadvantaged area.
Busybees is a continuation of the innovative Sunflower Recycling project - Busybees not only recycle, prepare and resell pre-loved furniture at great prices but also provide a removal service for any unwanted household furniture in pefectly good condition.
The project was set up to provide employment and training opportunities, reduce the amount of furniture going to landfill and also to increase environmental awareness in relation to waste prevention, reuse and recycling.
